What damages can you recover after a car accident?

If you have been injured in a car accident due to someone else's careless driving, you have the right to pursue a claim for money damages and hold the responsible party accountable. The biggest question you may have is "what can I recover financially as a result of this accident?"

Medical Expenses: The responsible party will be held responsible for the cost of any medical expenses you incur as a result of your car accident. Medical expenses include, but are not limited to, ambulance fees, hospital bills, medical accessories, doctor visits, and the cost of prescription medications.

Pain and Suffering: In addition to having your medical expenses covered, car accident victims may be entitled to financial compensation for "pain and suffering". Pain and suffering is the legal term for the physical and emotional stress caused from an accident or injury.

Lost Wages: If you are unable to work due to an accident-related injury, and your injury has diminished your ability to return to the workforce, your attorney should pursue a claim for lost wages. If you are able to prove that your injuries have significantly impacted to your ability to earn a living, you will be able to recover additional compensation.
